About Griddle & Rice

Serving breakfast options with a fusion of American and Indonesian, paired with high quality coffee.

Located at 2151 S 22nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19145, Griddle & Rice operates as an indonesian restaurant serving Philadelphia in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as bakery, brunch restaurant, cafe, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Philadelphia, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Pennsylvania run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

The business lists hours on 2 days of the week. Typical hours are 7 AM–7 PM. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (267) 360-2900. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is griddlericephilly.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 273 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded indonesian restaurants in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Philadelphia is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Pennsylvania's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

This is the last time I’ll try an β€œinternet-famous” restaurant. I’m honestly tired of all the TikTok hype around these Indonesian restaurants. Instead of spending so much effort on social media marketing, they should focus on improving the quality of their food. The food was incredibly disappointing. Everything was deep-fried, greasy, and felt very unhealthy. The prices were outrageous tooβ€”5 lamb skewers for $17, and they even charged $2 for a small side of sauce. Theres also a 3% up charge if you use credit card. That’s just ridiculous. The biggest letdown was the taste. The food lacked flavor and didn’t come close to living up to the hype. It felt like I was paying premium prices for mediocre food that was only popular because of social media. I’m so tired of restaurants relying on TikTok advertising instead of serving food that’s actually worth recommending. I won’t be coming back.

Top notch. The ayam geprek was superb. Tender smashed chicken dish with a chili-sambal that was sooo spicy and good. Yum. The Es Kopi Susu (espresso, condensed milk and evaporated milk) was also delish. Excited to have been blessed to go here this morning, I’ll be sure to return to try other things

Since they've been open, it's a place I enjoy going to grab a bite in the morning or even lunch and a coffee. Maybe even a sweet treat. I typically get a breakfast sandwich along with a drink, drink varies, and I like that I can choose a drink based on what I am feeling. Be it a coffee or espresso or even a smoothie or tea. It's a simple menu and I'm always in an out in a reasonable time.

We ordered the nasi uduk, fluffy sammy, matchamisu, and coconut mango matchaβ€”all were AMAZING!! This is my new favorite brunch place! The food was spectacular and the matcha is one of the best in the Philly. The perfect level of sweetness and super strong matcha flavor. The only downside is the lack of seating, but with the weather getting warmer, I’d gladly sit on the curb to enjoy lol

I came here twice actually in one week. Weekend definitely will be hard to get seating, unless you willing to be standing somewhere waiting for tables dining really small. I tried bunch of them from their menu and the most I liked was the veggie fritters, breakfast rice platters, meatball soup. The rest like chicken noodles, chicken congee, chicken satay and nutella banana pancakes were ok. Crews was friendly, bathroom is located outside and the dining table typically like food court, Starbucks, cafeteria type where you put away your own dishes on the bin near entrance door and clean yourself your table to sit. So is not like a restaurant with waitresses.

Absolutely love Griddle n Rice!! One of my FAVORITE places in philly to stop by and get matcha. Their hojicha is super good too!! Staff are very friendly even when it's super busy. Food is delicious! I had their ayam geprek (smashed chicken rice) with the spiciest sambal, it really brought the heat. This place is very cozy, I came with a group of 4 and we just had to wait a little for people to be finished eating for a free table. Don't be afraid to ask people for their table if it seems like they're leaving! I also love the special matcha latte drinks that come out during the seasons. Parking is honestly not hard at all, lots of spaces especially in South Philly. Would definitely recommend to a lot if people, I will be back more often when in the area!

After being in Philly for three years, this place was a nice change and honestly had some of the best Indonesian food I’ve had in a long time. Their matcha is also so rich and creamy (matchamisu) , and it was sweet but not overpowering. The chicken was crispy and so juicy, and the sambal was fresh and you could really taste the flavour in the spices . I will definitely be coming back, I think I’ve found one of my new regular spots! It is a little small, so if it is crowded be prepared to wait for a seat or takeout, but it’s so worth the wait! The staff was also super friendly and really nice!
